The Space Elevator Reference: Space Elevator 2007 Competition Registration Open and new Rulebooks

Climbers ascend a ribbon, 100,000 km long, strung between an anchor on Earth and a counterweight in space. Connecting Earth and space in a way never before possible, the space elevator will enable us to inexpensively and completely expand our society into space.

This site will serve as a reference tool for those interested in exchanging ideas on the scientific, engineering, economic and policy challenges inherent in constructing the solar system's first space elevator.

Ben Shelef at the Spaceward Foundation informs us today that registration is now open for the 2007 Climber (Power Beaming) Competition and 2007 Space Elevator Tether Competition. If you register by February 1st the fee is $500 for limited registration and $2500 for full registration for the Power Beaming (Climber) competition and $2500 registration fee for the Tether competition.

The rulesbooks have been updated and comments are now being accepted with a further revision expected by the end of the month.
